Ciabatta, Turkish and Focaccia Bread are ideal for Tramp Sandwiches. The thickness of the bread stops it getting soggy after 3 or 4 hours in your backpack. We've also tried Pita too , which held together pretty well, although some brands can break up. Wraps also work well for Patties, but don't over do it with your sauces or dressings as they can leak out the bottom. The spinach infused wraps are a favourite. We've discovered Veganaise (mayo without egg which is pretty damn tasty) which you can just add crushed garlic & lemon juice to make an awesome Aioli. Also you can make Cashew Cheese, by soaking cashews overnight, then whizzing in a blender with water, garlic, lemon juice and cider vinegar. This acts as a lube for sarnies too. We've discovered this really cool faux tuna on the net, basically almonds, sunflower seeds (soaked & wizzed), gherkin, red onion, celery with mayo. Seitan -awesome meat substitute, google it. Totally recommend both dried smokey coconut & also dried smokey mushrooms - no little piggies need to be sacrificed for that salty smokey flavour. Basics that are great topping/filler to any Tramp Sandwich: Sundried or Semidried Tomatoes make an ideal substitute for fresh tomatoes (which can get soggy). Sliced Gherkins Red/Yellow/Green Peppers. Baby Spinach leaves or Rocket. Anathoth Zucchini Pickle - you gotta try this stuff, it's beauty!
